From 2012, Matala Street Painting is the Matala Festival's pre-happening event giving colorful moments to friends on the beach of the Hippies one week before the Festival.
Due to circumstances outside our control, independently of the organizers’ efforts, but rather due to bureaucratic obstructions, the Hippie Bazaar of 7th June has been cancelled, since: It is impossible to obtain the municipal and regional permits2) Each vendor – even if private or occasionally participating in this single event – is required to have a licence and use a cash register! This is required by Greek law and there is just no way to get around it! We are so sorry about the inconvenience and to disappoint the participants. Katerina and Linda. 😕😖😔
For the third year, one week before the festival, Matala street painting takes place in the streets of Matala, where young and older people are painting on the streets and virtually kick-start the next 3 days.
Do not throw anything ... they all have value! Used books, old bikes, clothes you do not wear, things you do not need, maybe it's a treasure for someone else! Handmade constructions and jewelery.
The biggest party in the city during these difficult times calls all our friends to spend a day of joy together and give the most optimistic message of the times. With Love creation and teamwork we can have good feasts and a rich heart.
