MATALA STREET PAINTING 2019

Faces and colors !! Matala Street Painting 2019

The Street Painting Team was at this year's Matala Street Painting.

For the first time in 8 years, our team had the opportunity to be and participate in this year's color festival not as an Organizer but we were delighted to experience it as a spectator and participant. With that in mind, we had the opportunity to paint and also to get to know some of the people who participated this year but also in previous years in the event to paint the asphalt, whether professionals or hobbyists, children and adults ....

Giorgos Saridakis from Petrokefali is responsible for this wonderful painting. He has been involved in almost all the years in Matala street painting and chooses (and not unfairly) at the same spot to paint every year. This year he painted in the memory of fisherman Yannis Andrianakis, who recently died and was one of the most iconic figures of Matala.

Marina and Kostas from Mires participated for the first time in Matala street painting and enjoyed the experience. They chose to draw a beautiful dream catcher.

ATELIE
Linda Crast comes from Italy and Denmark. It is visual and the cause of the project we call Matala street painting. She is very happy that after so many years, her crazy idea to fill Matala with colors is now an institution and not a madness. From the position of the painter this time together with her students from Atelier created an interactive 3D painting.

Viva La Mouf
Sophia comes from Berlin and is an artist. Although it is the fourth year in Matala, it is the first time she participated in Matala street painting. Paint the waves with the caption, "Save the Ocean".

Josefina comes from Chile, she is very happy to participate for the first time in the event. Hossefina with her painting brought us an ethnic note from her country.

Amalia is from Athens and has participated in Matala street painting for 7 years. This year's painting depicts a traditional Mexican skull, flanked with flowers and butterflies. 😁

Mika is from Germany, she is first time in Matala street painting, and has fun painting her favorite animated cartoon character Bart Simson.

Bart is from Germany and is the second time to paint Matala with his daughter Nefeli.

Yvon is an artist and participates for the third year in Matala street painting with her colorful ethnic painting on the square.

Marta comes from Panama and is an artist, she has been involved in the event three times. With her hippie goat as she said she wants to protest against those who have satanic thoughts when they see goats with horns.

The painting of Sophia, Katerina and Ioanna, reminds us of how essential the existence of the Bee is and has an ecological character.

With their colorful painting the Dakarete adventure team
from Heraklion. The Lefteris Dakarete member was kind enough to recommend us the team more specifically:

The idea of "Dakarete Adventure Team" was created by motorcyclists, nature lovers who enjoy music and good food (!)

The company of Mires, who participates for the fourth time, chose to draw personalities from their favorite series.

This cute painting is Vaggelis from Mires and is 7 years old. As he told us he painted from when he was little 💚

Ioanna Giannoula, Vicky and Eve are from Mires and Pitsidia, all painted the Galaxy centered on the Sun.

The company from Mires painted in Graffiti style the name of their beloved café where they meet.

Vasiliki and Alexandra are from Athens and they are studying in Rethymno. They first came to Matala street painting to paint a brain with flowers.

The group of girls who came from Tympaki are girlfriends from school and painted in Matala with a message against homophobia.

Charlie from Germany for the first time in Matala painted ecologically, and reminds us that the only thing we have to leave on the beach is your footprinds.

Daskalaki Maria and Stamataki Katerina are from Tympaki and Matala. It is the fourth year that prticipate to Matala street painting. They have painted their balloons that can throw you up if you fall down to catch them.
